Cedar of Lebanon — real management

The Cedar of Lebanon is Northwood's signature tree. Managed properly it can live 300 years; managed badly it starts shedding scaffold limbs within a decade of heavy cuts. Our approach is minimal-intervention deadwood removal, careful end weighting on the longest laterals, and no crown reduction beyond what is genuinely necessary for structural safety. We'd rather do smaller visits every three years than one heavy job that shortens the tree's life.

Oak, beech and hornbeam management

Mature oak needs a decade of light reductions to hold shape well; done in one hit it becomes unbalanced. Beech is unforgiving of internal wounds and slow to occlude. Hornbeam responds well to formative pruning and light reduction. Species-specific timing matters — oak between August and February, beech in late summer, hornbeam mid-winter — and we plan every quote around the right window.
